Haha, this account is pretty much ancient. I'm not insanely active on the new account, and honestly the best places to follow me for art are my Instagram & my Twitter accounts. Click the links to follow me wherever you choose! I'll probably be keeping this account up, mostly for archival purposes.

What I've been up to...

...For the past 2 years.
Not really, but you know. A journal title has to have some kind of a hook.
Yeah, I always say that I'm going to be more active on here then I drop off the face of this website almost altogether. I spend most of my time on tumblr (not updating my art blog lmao) and Instagram than I do on dA these days. I feel like my stuff gets more views on Insta than here, so y'know.
Anyways, not much has happened. I live with Jay, my boyfriend, now after like, 6 years of being in a long-distance relationship. He moved here in mid-May, so it's been a few months. Everything is pretty chill for the most part. It's bizarre not using Skype anymore tho. I don't miss that bullshit program. We've done some neat-o things together. We saw Florence + The Machine in Austin back in May, and I still have not recovered from that experience. Seriously, she's amazing live, hot damn. Videos of her live performances do not do her justice at all. Recently, we went to a small horror con called Monster-Con, and we had a lot of fun there. I found the original CBS VHS release of The Empire Strikes Back! And I got to meet Pam from Texas Chainsaw Massacre! Fun fun fun.
Uhhh. I started going to campus classes last Fall at a community college. They were mostly art classes, but I enjoyed them. I transferred over to a University over the Summer to work on my major. Currently, I'm taking 3D animation courses, and whew....They're something else! I like them, but Maya is literally the bane of my entire existence. I'm modeling a room right now in one class, and I have never wanted to cunt punt my MacBook out the window so much in my life >.>
But ye. Oh yeah, I got a new laptop for my birthday. As stated above, it's a Macbook. Not a NEW one, but a refurbished one. It's a good laptop, I love it. The only bullshit I've had so far with it, is that the hard drive failed a few months after getting it, and because my job cut my hours to shit I had to save up to get a new one. Now it's up and running smoothly, so thank Christ for that. Only problem is that I don't have SAI on it! I've tried attempting to doodle in Photoshop, but ehhhh. I'm not feeling it so far. Maybe I'll get the hang of it, but for now I'm just doing more traditional art. Not really complaining, considering I've neglected my Copics and Prismas for a super long time.
I've actually got a ton of stuff that I could upload, mostly doodle sheets. I'm currently doing InkTober stuff, so I've been busting out either a full piece or a doodle per day for the past 10 or so days. I participated last year, but I got behind and never finished the month lmao. Hopefully this year I can make it to the end of the month.

I won't promise that I'll be back anytime soon, but I'll try to get around to compiling my doodle pages from my sketchbooks and scanning them in to post here. For now, you can follow my Instagram, where I post the majority of my art:

December's edition of 'Allie's not Dead'

Heyyyyyyyyy. Once again here's a little update to show that I haven't completely dropped off the face of the planet. There's not much to talk about, but I feel the need to ramble about junk, so why not make a journal post about it???
I've finally finished my first year of college, yippie! *dances and throws confetti everywhere*. Finished the semester with 4 A's and one C, so that's not THAT bad. I'm still getting financial aid, so that helps a ton considering having to pay back $1000+ within the course of 3 months wrecked me. Shit happens, I guess. Other than school-related junk that you probably don't care about, a few months ago marked my being at my job for a year! They gave me a certificate and a little "1 YR." sticker to slap on my name-tag. I was very proud!
Mmm. I cut my hair the other day, for like the first time since May of last year. When I say that, I mean I actually haven't had it cut since then, disregarding the times I went in and got it styled. 'Twas pretty long, long enough to donate, even! So I donated my hair, and out of it got a free hair cut. Now I have a pixie cut, and I am in love with it. No more thick hair and tangles! Huzzah!!!
Not much else to say, I think. Jay's staying with me for 2 weeks starting next Monday, so I'm really looking forward to that. Haven't been doing much drawing since school let out, but I've just been doing stupid doodles. I'll post some at the end of this journal, I guess. In addition to this, I've found myself re-watching a lot of Invader ZIM (thanks to a certain someone lmao). Let me tell you, man. Re-watching the first episode took me back to when I was 7 years-old and watched it air on Nick for the first time, while sitting in a dark room at my grandparents. Good times.

Hey, look it's an update~

Hi lol. Uh, I don't really post here anymore, but I figured I would write a small update of what I've been up to since the last time I updated. No one will probably read this, because it's so dead here (part of the reason I barely update lmao).
Recently, I had to get a new computer because the display on my laptop died on me and I figured it would be best to just get a new one instead of fixing it. Luckily for me, my grandparents had an Acer desktop they no longer used, and they let me have it. It's nice, the monitor is pretty big (compared to my laptop screen) and the quality is nice. Still kind of getting used to sitting at my desk, instead of on my bed, though. Also, I bought a new tablet a few months ago, since I was having trouble with my Bamboo Connect. This one's an Intuos 5, and it's wonderful. I'm not a fan of the express keys on the side of it, but overall I still like it. I'm also in the process of getting used to drawing with it.
I started college this past Winter/Spring. I'm doing online classes because I live about an hour away from my school and I still can't drive (which I desperately need to work on, oops). It was fine, not really difficult, but then again I only took Composition, so maybe that explains it. Unfortunately, I now have to pay $1,200 because the school's system messed up and they didn't realize it until like, a month ago. It sucks because I still don't get many hours at work, so Jay is pitching in to help me pay off the balance before the Fall semester starts OTL
Speaking of Jay, I went to Connecticut a few weeks ago to visit him. It was fun, we went to New York and saw Phantom of the Opera. Unfortunately though, the trip to NY was kind of a let down for numerous reasons. I liked Phantom, even though we couldn't see a good part of the stage due to seating. Oh well. I also went to the PEZ center and saw X-Men: Days of Future Past (which omfg was a really good movie, I cannot express how much I loved this movie. Go see it if you're an X-Men fan.), oh yeah and I went to my first comic convention. I bought a shit ton of art prints and like, 5 or 6 X-Men comics ahahahah.

As you can see, I ran out of creative titles for these things long ago. How unfortunate lmao.

I am trying to get back into the flow of uploading stuff here regularly. My recent deviations have been posted a few hours to a day after I've finished them, hooray for trying to start consistent in uploading junk! Sadly though, I'm in somewhat of an art block (despite throwing together that Elsa drawing which, I feel I could have done a lot more with if I wasn't stuck in this block) so coming up with things to draw has been difficult.
I want to get back to drawing traditionally at some point. I haven't really done anything fanart wise traditionally since like, 2011 or something, and while I wasn't necessarily good at it, I still had some sort of grasp on inking and coloring with pens and markers. Now I can barely ink a sketch in one of my 3789383939 sketchbooks without it looking shaky or messy as fuuuck. Oh well, practice makes perfect, I suppose!
In other news, work is alright. I'm only getting 8 hours a week, on average, so I don't get paid much at all. I like where I work and what I do (most of the time lol) but man, one of my managers makes me so angry, grrrr. That's a story for another journal (or a vague tumblr post lmao).
I saw Jay again the week before last! He stayed for a week this time. We quoted Vines, saw Free Birds (OF ALL MOVIES LMAO), and went to Wurstfest, a German festival near where I live. Also he spent a lot of money on me at the mall, oops.
Hahaha I miss him, booooo.
Hmmmm. I don't have much to talk about now! I'm apparently seeing the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special thing in theaters with one of my friends on Monday. It'll be fun, since I haven't hung out with any of my friends since like, May or something like that. Then, I'm mildly excited for Frozen to come out. I'm still weary about the plot details, but the animation looks stunning, the songs are pretty catchy (gotta love Robert Lopez) and there are good things being said about it, so maybe it'll turn out to be a gem after all. We'll see, we'll see, haha.
